Tips for Skincare in the winter season

You must be feeling happy that the scorching heat has gone and the muggy, rainy season has left you in a relaxing mode to enjoy the winter season. Here are some tips that will help your skin glow, shiny, and also keep moisturized.

  1. Use lukewarm water for shower and drinking

When we talk about the winter season it is very natural to go for a hot shower to protect from cold weather, but do you know it is not very much recommended for the skin. Because it opens your skin pores for a longer period and in return, your skin loses its moisturizing level. It dries the skin quickly and makes it rough. So, keep away from hot water shower rather you should ideally go for lukewarm water for shower. You shall also use it for face wash too. After that, we should use a good quality moisturizer to maintain the moisture level of the skin.

Hot water shower/bath makes skin dry and subsequently, it helps in developing some major skin diseases like cracking of skin, dryness, itching, and eczema.

Lukewarm water also helps regulate metabolism and keeps you hydrated. It rejuvenates your body cells and tones up muscles. The proper nutrition is absorbed and cells are decongested and the skin absorbs minerals, protein, and vitamins easily.

Using lukewarm water in winter on a regular basis can increase your body temperature and helps in releasing toxic elements from your body. The lukewarm water is good for skin care in the winter season to keep skin glow and healthy.

  1. A healthy diet, seasonal fruits, and vegetables

In the winter season, we all know our skin gets dry and rough. We usually see wrinkles get prominent around your eyes and the upper part of your chicks. Fine lines become more visible. During the winter season, your hair gets dry and cluttered. Due to dryness and losing moisturizing level skin becomes rough, itching and redness can also be seen easily.

If you want to get rid of all of these then be prepared for a healthy diet loaded with seasonal fruits and vegetables to make your skin healthy, glowing, and shiny. It keeps hydrated your skin and greatly helps in combating cold waves that damage skin layers.

Your diet must include Dalia (porridge), oats, eggs, soups, chapattis of maize flour (Makki ki roti), mixed cereals loaded with a moderate level of ghee.

Foods that are loaded with Vitamin A, C, D, and E. Include sufficient Spinach in your diet, which is a rich source of zinc and iron. It keeps you hydrated and improves your red blood corpuscles as well as maintaining the oxygen level in your cells.

You must include carrots in your daily foods, especially in your salads, or make a cup of carrot juice, which is a high source of beta-carotene and lycopene. These help to protect your skin make them glow and remove any redness and itching or irritation due to winter’s effect.

3. Healthy diet and keep hydrated in the winter

Your diet must include Almonds, Dates, and Walnuts. These dry fruits help your skin hydrated and healthy and shiny. They also protect you from seasonal colds and flu, which is very common during the winter season.

Drink ample water during the daytime. It keeps skin hydrated and removes toxins from the body.

Use lemon water instead of plain water to keep refreshing all the time. Lemon is enriched with ascorbic acid, which helps to eliminate the free radicals from the body and rejuvenate cells.

Moisturize skin 3-4 times a day, especially your hand and face. You should opt for very gentle and fewer fragrance cleansers. When you are out, then applying sunscreen to protect the face from direct sunlight because in winter skin becomes dry easily and loses moisture easily.

When you take water to add a few drops of essential oil to keep moisture and hydrated all day. In the winter season, you need to exfoliate the skin once a week with coconut oil mixed with lemon juice and baking soda.

You can also go for honey and apple cider vinegar mixed with sea salt, which protects your skin and keeps hydrated for long hours. The best oil for skincare in the winter season is Coconut Oil and Olive Oil. These oils protect your skin; make it healthy and shiny as well as keep your skin moisturized. Skincare in the winter season is very much needed because cold wave dries your skin and make dull and dark due to cold breeze and harsh rays of the sun. In this weather, everyone must take extra care while choosing a cream for the face and body.

The moisture level of the skin increases and proper blood circulation takes place in your body. You feel fresh and energetic the whole day.

7. Use sunscreen cream and glare

Last but not least. During the winter season, the sun rays are very strong between 11 am to 2 pm. It is the time when you have to take extra care of your skin from ultraviolet rays. Your skin gets damaged if you do not use sunscreen lotion.UVA rays can harm your skin. If it directly comes to your face, then it will create wrinkles and slowly takes you towards aging. In the winter season, the sun rays are very penetrating and it may damage your skin very easily.

So, it is advised to use an SPF lotion / good quality sunscreen and also wear glare to protect the sensitive skin around your eyes.
